We took the trip to Old Forge to hike some of the Fulton chain hikes. We started off with Bald and Rocky. These hikes are not long in length at all, but do take some stamina to complete because they are pretty vertical.
The first hike of the day was Bald Mountain, and right off the bat you'll understand how it got its name. You climb bald rocks the entire way to the summit.
This was a 2 mile out and back hike over 416 ft of elevation. The summit provides beautiful views over the lake, there is also a fire tower you can climb for even more panoramic views.
We saw hikers of all kinds - people in flip flops and sundresses etc. I think most people could handle this hike because it's so quick and short in duration - however, it really is steep and vertical, so be prepared when you see it's only a 2 mile hike that it may not be as easy as you think!
After we finished off Bald, we hiked Rocky Mountain. You have to drive to the other trail because it isn't right next to the trailhead, but it's very close by.
Rocky was an even shorter hike than Bald, but again very similar in that it was steeper than most people anticipate. It's one mile round trip - so quick hike, but again has some very pretty views at the summit.
Finished both hikes by the early afternoon and headed down for a swim in the lake!
These were our first two hikes of the Fulton Chain Trifecta!
